Hello Westfield, especially Ward 3. A community FYI: there are several gathers of community and church based groups responding to the separation of children from parents at the Mexican border on Sat. One is at 11 AM at Springfield City Hall, and at 3 PM at Millside Park in Easthampton. I will be there.
I cannot believe this is happening in OUR America. For someone who blows a gasket over kneeling during the National Anthem to exercise their citizen responsibility and authority over the abuse of their Civil Rights and Liberties; but trashes OUR Constitution, this time the 5th Amendment, Due Process, as well, undermines the credibility of OUR Judiciary, and National Security. And, then to follow up with cruel and unusual punishments; first with denial, then blame others, then say how terrible this is, when it was a presidential edict that started it. To cage children!!! Children who do not know where they are, do not speak English. All they know is that the police took their parents away, which in their home country could mean to be killed. And, then stereo type whole ethnic groups for the actions of a few.
He paraded out a handful of Americans who had a family member killed by and illegal immigrant…how many Americans have been killed on a daily basis by other Americans. Is this a return to the 1920’s where all Italians were mobsters, all Irish, drunks, and all Catholic immigrants were agents of the Pope? And, when they banned all kinds of drugs as a plot by foreigners coming into the U.S. Or, the 40’s when all Germans were Nazis; and 50’s when all Russians were Communists? Exciting stories of the imagination maybe, but then, as now NOT true.
Sorry, while I may face criticism, for what I say, I have always been a firm believer in being responsible; this is not being responsible. And, as someone who has worked with children (DSS/DYS/DMR, and in public education), and as someone who not only talks moral responsibility, but does his best to live up to my words by what I do to make things better. Trump is bringing shame upon OUR country.
Let’s make America civil again, and restore our American Values, and Soul, and the OUR Spirit of social justice, and advocates of and for Human Rights. We are fast becoming a nations that cannot be trusted in the world, and worse in America. America divided against itself to a point where we cannot trust one another thus cannot work together? As Franklin put it: off our shores are those who await the failure of our experiment in government. And, within Plutocrats and Oligarchs. Better yet: Rev. Niemöller quote: First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
Let’s make a stand for OUR American Principles, as such, reject the efforts to create a Timocracy in OUR America. And, let us return to our Moral Principles where we do not allow children to be sacrificed on the altar of Ego, ambition, and Hate. Sorry for the emotions, but children…?
