WESTFIELD—A fight on Union Street late Friday afternoon left one person with minor knife wounds and two men arrested..
Police said that two brothers, Jefferson Martinez-Seda, 21, and Luis Martinez-Seda, 22, both originally from Fitchburg, were involved in an altercation with a 19-year-old victim with whom they shared an apartment temporarily.
Police reported that there was a dispute and the 19-year-old allegedly threw a punch at the elder Martinez-Seda, which escalated the altercation. The fight then went from the apartment to the parking lot—where police reported that 100 to 200 people gathered to watch—and the 19-year-old ended up with lacerations to his arm, allegedly from a knife used by Martinez-Seda.
Police arrived at the scene and talked to the victim, who pointed to a Metro Taxi Van that both Martinez-Seda brothers were in. Police questioned the two brothers and but they were uncooperative. After a short time police had to forcibly remove both brothers from the vehicle. Police then arrested both brothers.
The younger Martinez-Seda was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, while the older brother was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a dangerous weapon.
Westfield Fire Department EMS was also at the scene, but all parties refused transport to the hospital.
