WESTFIELD – The search for a City Auditor has yielded two candidates to date, said search committee chair Ralph J. Figy.
The position of Auditor is responsible for monitoring, directing and auditing the municipal accounting system, the processing of the city’s payroll, and the city’s Contributory Retirement System, and is considered crucial to the functioning of the city. The Auditor works under the direction of the Mayor and the City Council.
At the last meeting of the search committee, the posting for the position was extended for 30 days, and is still listed on the City website at www.cityofwestfield.org.
Figy said interviews of the two applicants are planned during an executive session of the search committee scheduled for Aug. 12.
Figy said following that meeting, the search committee will report to the City Council at its regularly scheduled meeting in the third week of August. The ultimate decision and vote for the Auditor position lies with the City Council.
“My goal would be to have the Council offer someone a job at the next meeting,” Figy said.
