SOUTHWICK – The town-wide water meter project is inching closer and closer to the finish line. According to Southwick DPW Director Randy Brown, East National Water, the contractor for the project, has continued to do installations just about every day.
Already going through the fifth region of town, East National Water is now taking appointments to replace water meters at all regions of the community.
Brown said that the new water meter system has been beneficial thus far.
“It’s helped us identify some potential leaks in the system,” said Brown.
Since the new system has been up and running, the DPW water division has sent out notices to at least 75 customers for potential water leaks in their internal plumbing. The meter senses any low flow condition 24 hours a day, and will send an alarm to the DPW before they notify the homeowner.
Brown added that the completion of the project depends upon the residents who haven’t schedule an appointment yet.
In order to schedule an appointment with East National Water, call (800)-252-8556. Weekend appointments are also available.
The water meter project started in September of 2016, as first reported by the Westfield News. For further information on the project, you can also go to the Town of Southwick website.
