WESTFIELD – A local volunteer for Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation of Westfield reports was included in a televised surprise tribute to the founder of the Dollars for Scholars, Dr. Irving Fradkin, on an episode of Katie!, a national daytime television talk show.
Noel Stella of CSF Westfield Dollars for Scholars reports that, in addition to a video profile and in-studio interview, the show provided Dr. Fradkin a surprise: scholarship recipients from 1961 to the present came out to thank him for his life’s work.
The scholarship recipients on the show included Westfield’s own Nick Burrage, a Westfield High School graduate who received a CSF scholarship last May.
Stella said that Burrage is one of the local chapter’s “amazing volunteers and students.”
She also said “We are so grateful to Katie for her support of Dollars for Scholars and our national organization, Scholarship America.”
Local residents can, she said, go to the CSF Westfield website, csfwestfield.dollarsforscholars.org., for information about contributing and volunteering with the local chapter.
The Katie! Show was re-broadcast on Thanksgiving Day.
