WESTFIELD – The Westfield High School softball team punched its ticket to the Western Massachusetts Division I tournament with a 10-0 shutout of visiting Ludlow Friday. The unbeaten Bombers improved to 10-0.
“So we made it to the tournament,” Westfield coach Joe Stella said. “Next week we start our league – we’re looking forward to it.
Westfield collected its 10th straight win, thanks to a 16-hit attack and a solid outing on the mound from pitcher Jen Moller. Moller pitched a complete game, 5-hitter. She struck out nine batters and walked four.
Syd Ezold reached base four times, driving in two runs, collecting two doubles and walking twice for Westfield. Bombers’ Jess Pratt went 3-for-4 with a double, and an RBI.
Westfield’s Jules Sharon (RBI) had three hits, Maddy Atkocaitis finished with two hits and two RBIs, and Katelyn Puza collected two hits and an RBI. Maddie Brockney (2 RBIs), Lexi Minicucci (RBI), Emily Chrzanowski, Kate Menard, and Sarah McNerney all contributed on offense.

Minnechaug 5, Westfield 0
Kayla Therrien and Olga Korobkov played well at first doubles for Westfield, losing 6-4, 7-5.
JV BASEBALL
Palmer 18, Southwick-Tolland 0
Southwick junior Pat King held Palmer in check for the first four innings. Dan McClellan, Joey Stratton, John Gonet, and Dylan Parrow each collected singles for the Rams.
