William A. Stevens, Jr.

WESTFIELD – William A. Stevens, Jr., 79, (1946-2025) passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Charlotte (Langbein) and William A. Stevens, Sr. He attended Springfield College and went on to serve his country as a medic in the United States Army during Vietnam from 1966-1968, attaining the rank of SP5 and receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal and a Bronze Star Medal.

After returning home Bill dedicated his life to leading outdoor adventure programs for five decades. On these trips he’d take people of all ages and abilities into the wilderness and teach them about caving, kayaking, whitewater rafting, rock and ice climbing. Many of these people had physical or cognitive disabilities and limited access to these types of adventures. William had a passion for leading these trips to widen their worlds. Later in life he drove school buses for Westfield Public Schools and continued taking kids through important days in their lives.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann Siron of Westfield, his two loving children, Scott E. Stevens and his wife Naomi of Oregon City, OR and Steph C. Stevens and her husband Colin Gendreau of Hopkinton, MA and his four cherished grandchildren, Anderson Kriete and Edward Kriete, and Violet Stevens and Elsie Stevens.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Bill on Monday, September 22nd, 2025, from 6:30-7:00 p.m. in Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. Visiting hours will precede the service from 4-6:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
