RUSSELL – On February 6th, 2020 William H Boyden (Bill) passed away at home. He was a lifelong resident of Russell, MA. He worked for the Westfield River paper and was Fire Chief of Russell for ten years. He enjoyed his summers away at Lake Seymour in Vermont where you would always find him fishing or golfing with his friends. He also loved to tinker around in his basement and make all kinds of woodwork. If there was something that needed to be fixed you could always go to him and he would have a solution. The thing that Bill enjoyed more than anything was spending time with his wife. Whether it was taking 3 hour-long car rides to look at scenery, stopping at new places they have never been to, get a bite to eat or just being in each other’s presence made him happiest.
He leaves behind his wife Janet Gafga Boyden of 61 years. His sister Florence. His son David Boyden, two daughter-in-laws, three grandsons, five granddaughters and two great-grandsons. He was predeceased by his two sons James Boyden and Brian Boyden. The family is going to have a private funeral on a later date. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association, 264 Cottage St. Springfield, MA 01104.
