Westfield – William J. Oleksak Sr., 88, died Thursday, October 27th, 2016 in Noble Hospital. He was born in Westfield on November 10, 1927 to the late Lawrence and Anna (Organek) Oleksak. He was a lifelong resident attended local schools and was a 1944 graduate of St. Mary’s High School. He served in Korea during WW-2 in the U.S. Army 7th Division. He worked at Robinson Reminder, Stevens Paper Mill and at the Genesis Spiritual Life Center where he retired from in 1989. Bill was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, the Slovak Hall and was a charter member of the Westfield Sportsman’s Club. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting and golfing. He enjoyed playing cards with his friend and his trips to the casino. Bill was pre-deceased by his wife Jeannette (Grigalunas) Oleksak in 1983. He leaves his children William J. Oleksak Jr. of Westfield and grandchildren William Oleksak III, Jessica Coty and Shannon Bennett, Steve Oleksak and his wife Teresa of Westfield and grandchildren Stephen and John Oleksak, Annie Oleksak of Indian Orchard and grandchildren Justin and Jarrett MacDonald and Joan Peterson of Englewood, FL and grandchildren Cody and Jake Peterson. He also leaves his great-grandchildren Logan, Ashley, Kaylyn, William IIII, Haylee and Easton, his brother Lawrence Oleksak of Westfield. Bill was pre-deceased by his granddaughter Lauren in 1993, his daughter-in-law Patty Oleksak in 2014 and his brother Joseph Oleksak. The funeral for Bill will be held on Monday October 31st at 9:00 a.m. from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
