Witnesses alert police to larceny at Home Depot

WESTFIELD- Approximately $600 worth of merchandise was stolen from Home Depot in broad daylight.
Police received a call at 12:33 p.m. Thursday afternoon from a caller who reported seeing a party run from Home Depot, located at 514 E. Main Street, with two black boxes, according to police records.
The caller said she saw the party enter a “beat-up looking” green pick up truck, with no front plate, that was parked in the 99 Restaurant.
Allegedly the thief left the Home Depot using one of the emergency exits facing East Main Street, witnesses told police.
A second caller reported that they witnessed somebody in a green Ford F150 double cab truck take two dremel tools from Home Depot and take off westbound on East Main Street. This caller couldn’t get the license plate, but took a picture of the side view of the truck, according to police logs.
Another party reported seeing a suspicious vehicle leave the 99 Restaurant parking lot. The male driver ran two red lights while heading westbound on Route 20. This witness provided police with a license plate number.
The manager from Home Depot told police that he figured out that what was stolen were two Dewalt cordless brushless hammer drill three-piece sets valued at $299 each.
Westfield Police Capt. Michael McCabe said this larceny is under investigation.
