WESTFIELD-Bridgette Mulville has had a passion for decorating for as long as she can remember, and in 2018, she started her own business featuring florals, home decor and gift giving ideas.
“I started this business because I wanted to feel fulfilled,” said Mulville, adding, “I wanted to build something I could be proud of.”
Her business, Old Farm Cottage at 68 Old Farm Road, features a variety of “farmhouse, rustic, and primitive” decor.
Mulville noted her pursuit of decorating and antiquing was first inspired by her family’s home.
“My parents’ house has always been decorated to the nines with beautiful one-of-a-kind antiques,” she said.
Mulville said her gift ideas “encourages creativity through decorating at affordable prices.”
With area residents now thinking about their holiday gift lists, especially since Small Business Saturday is fast approaching on Nov. 28, Mulville promises some fun “live sale” events as well as pop-up events during the holiday shopping season.
“My live sales are scheduled in advance and my surprise sales spring up out of the blue,” she said, encouraging people to check daily on her Old Farm Cottage Facebook page for the latest additions to her inventory and special events.
“Old Farm Cottage is offering 10% off of every purchase made on Small Business Saturday, and more information will be coming soon on Facebook about our Holiday Live Sale on Nov. 22 at 7 p.m.,” she said.
Mulville added that all of the items she sells are acquired from distributors in the United States.
Mulville said that what she enjoys most about being a business owner is the “sense of adventure” she experiences every day.
“I love being inspired by others’ decorating ideas,” said Mulville, adding she hopes that those who browse her Facebook pages will also find gifts that are inspiring.
On her Facebook pages, she features “albums” with florals, candles, planters and vases, wall decor, wood signs and miscellaneous gift suggestions. Price information is provided in the caption of each photo.
“We are located two miles from Shaker Farms Country Club so we can provide porch pick up, or we can ship small, non-glass items,” she said.
Mulville notes that if someone is looking for a specific gift idea, they may “message” her on the Facebook page and she will make every attempt to stock the item.
“I hope you find one thing here that inspires you,” she said on a recent Facebook post, adding, “I hope you stick around.”
