WSU Field Hockey Nips Framingham, 1-0

WESTFIELD – Senior co-captain Lauren Tavares scored a first-half goal to lift Westfield State University to a 1-0 victory over Framingham State University in conference field hockey action Saturday, Oct. 6.
Westfield improves its record to 4-3 in the Little East Conference and 7-4 overall. Framingham is 2-5 and 7-5.
Tavares scored in the 25th minute off a penalty corner with assists from junior back Courtney Araujo and Liz Hall. Hall, a senior co-captain from nearby Southwick, ranks fifth nationally with 11 assists.
Westfield outshot Framingham, 14-12, but the Owls were edged in penalty corners, 10-9.
