Father and son find house being robbed

WESTFIELD–Police said that a father and son duo chased down someone that broke into their home Wednesday evening, detaining him until police arrived.

Police reported that the alleged perpetrator is a 14-year-old minor and his identity cannot be released. He reportedly made off with $100 from the Prospect Street home, half of which was recovered.

The father who chased the perpetrator told police that he saw someone running from his home, which prompted him and his son to give chase. After a short pursuit, the two were able to catch and detain the alleged thief about a quarter-mile away.

Police found the three and arrested the 14-year-old and charged him with larceny from a building and breaking and entering for a misdemeanor.

Police later took the alleged perpetrator to Baystate Noble Hospital for evaluation from injuries sustained during the pursuit, but he was discharged back into police custody.
