Emergency response and crime report

12:57 a.m.: suspicious persons, Westfield Vocational-Technical High School, 33 Smith Ave., a caller reports a vehicle arrived at the school and occupants went to the baseball field, the responding officer reports eh found three male parties using a metal detector on the athletic fields, the men were advised that city parks and playgrounds close at dusk;
10:03 a.m.: fraud, Brenda Drive, a resident came to the station to complain that an unknown person filed a fraudulent U.S. income tax return with his information;
12:32 p.m.: well being check, Western Avenue, a caller reports a female party lying on his front lawn is crying, the responding officer reports he found a young woman who said that she and friend of her boyfriend’s had taken her him lunch and an argument developed with the friend after they left his workplace, the woman said that the man grabbed her ponytail and jerked her head down before hitting her face, the officer noted minor redness on her face, the woman said that the man stopped on Western Avenue and she exited the vehicle, the woman was transported to Noble Hospital where she was treated and released;
2:31 p.m.: found property, Southampton Road, a Holyoke resident came to the station to surrender a purse found at a Southampton Road gas station, the responding officer reports he was unable to immediately contact the owner and the purse was stored for safe keeping;
5:21 p.m.: animal complaint, Paper Mill Playground, Paper Mill Road, an off duty officer reports he took custody of a dog running loose on a ball field and notified the owner, the owner came to the field to take custody of the dog.
