8:36 a.m.: accident, Western Avenue, a caller reports she was operating on Western Avenue when a tent struck her vehicle and damaged it, the responding officer reports he found that representative of a book company had been setting up a canopy for his effort to buy used textbooks when the canopy blew into the roadway and struck the passing car causing dents and scratches;
8:46 a.m.: larceny, West Road, a caller reports about 100 gallons of fuel was stolen from the fuel tank on his farm, the responding officer reports that on Wednesday he found a fuel container near the tank and saw that it had been tampered with, the man said he investigated to find that about 100 gallons of diesel fuel had been siphoned from the tank which is visible from the roadway;
9:43 a.m.: trespassing, Southampton Road, a code enforcement officer reports that he was advised that a person who has been ordered to stay away from his property unless accompanied by a city official is on the land, the officer reports he investigated to find a van mired in the mud and the property owner attempting to pull it free with a pickup truck, the officer reports the owner acknowledged that he had no permission to be there and admitted that he had defeated a seal placed on the trailer by the building inspector, the officer advised the man to go directly to city hall when he got his vehicle free to request access to the property, the building and health inspectors were advised of the transgression;
10:09 a.m.: larceny, Bancroft Apartments, 125 Main Street, a caller reports his car was missing when he went out in the morning, the responding officer reports the caller said that the vehicle which had been parked in his apartment building’s parking lot was last seen the day before and said that the vehicle was unregistered and not entirely roadworthy;
11:18 a.m.: officer wanted, Main Street, a caller from a supermarket reports a man is panhandling outside the store, the responding officer reports the known person said that he had $13 and was trying to raise enough money to go home to New Hampshire, the officer reports he advised the man to use the $13 to go to a community which would allow him to ask for money from the pedestrian and motoring public;
1:14 p.m.: parking violation, Highland Avenue, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle parked on the city tree belt, a parking ticket was issued;
1:24 p.m.: assist resident, East Main Street, a caller reports she has run out of fuel and has a child in the car with her, the responding officer reports a Good Samaritan provided the woman with some fuel;
3:12 p.m.: illegal dumping, Montgomery Road, a caller reports he has discovered debris dumped on the tree line of his property, the responding officer reports that the caller showed him eight city street signs, a chair and a television which had been dumped on his property, the officer reports the street signs were returned to the DPW;
3:29 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street at Orange Street, a patrol officer reports he observed an unsafe lane change and when he stopped the vehicle he detected an odor of marijuana, the officer reports that the operator said that he had smoked some marijuana at lunch time, the officer reports the man passed a field sobriety test, marijuana was confiscated and will be destroyed;
4:21 p.m.: larceny, Cherry Street, a resident came to the station to report the theft of a registration plate, the responding officer report the victim said that his vehicle had been parked in his driveway since about 3 p.m. the day before and the plate was stolen during that time period;
6:26 p.m.: breaking and entering, Butler Street, a caller reports that a contractor found a door to her home ajar and when she inspected her home she found that a rear door had been pried open, the woman said that nothing appeared to have been taken and suggested that her estranged husband was responsible for the intrusion, the officer spoke with the man who denied breaking in the house and said that he had tools in the cellar, the officer reports than an inspection of the cellar workshop revealed that the only tool present was a scroll saw;
11:06 p.m.: medical emergency, Southampton Road, a caller from a Southampton Road motel reports a medical emergency, the responding officer reports a routine check of a witness revealed that the man was the subject of an outstanding warrant issued in 2014 by Brockton District Court, Brandon L. Beltran, 26, of 24 Warrant St., New Bedford, was arrested on the warrant.
