Major crime and incident report
Wednesday, October 7, 2015
7:15 a.m.:
accident, 1 Franklin St. at 174 Elm St., four-vehicle accident, 2011 GMC Yukon, 2007 Hyundai, 1999 Ford and 2004 Hyundai, no tows, one patient refused transport, witness reported that first vehicle stopped abruptly to allow a vehicle to take a left hand turn out of the Mobil Gas station resulting in a chain reaction accident;
8:27 a.m.: accident, Richard’s Grinders, 420 Union St., two vehicles, 2006 Volkswagen and 1995 Dodge Ram Truck, Volkswagen towed, no injuries, Westfield Fire Department contacted to clean up fluids and DPW contacted to clean up debris;
9:21 a.m.: found property, Hanover Street, party turned in an Alcatel cell phone he found on the dike at the end of Hanover Street;
10:54 a.m.: shoplifting, Walmart, 141 Springfield Road, caller reported a woman allegedly stole three toothbrushes valued at $200 each (which were later recovered), suspect left in a vehicle with stolen plates that had been involved in a shoplifting from Walmart on Tuesday;
12:51 p.m.: vandalism motor vehicle, Phelps Avenue, resident reported slashed tire on vehicle;
1:04 p.m.: vandalism, Polish National Credit Union, 1 Parkside Ave., caller reported someone damaged the credit union ATM over the weekend;
1:29 p.m.: vandalism, Ridgecrest Drive, caller reported that her mailbox was vandalized overnight and again today;
2:48 p.m.: assault, Mass. Air National Guard Bridge, 492 E. Main St., Southwick resident reported a road rage incident involving men in a 2009 Honda Civic who cut her off, “flipped her off,” spit at her, threw items (can of soda) at her vehicle and pointed a gun at her, Emmanuel Diaz, 25, of 12 Franklin Ave., Apt. 2, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license subsequent offense, Ariel O. Serrano, 20, of 13 Woodmont St., Apt. 2fl, Springfield was arrested on an outstanding warrant and Juan C. Ortiz, 20, of 82 Prospect St., Apt. 2Fl, Springfield was arrested on two outstanding warrants;
3:30 p.m.: accident, Department of Youth Services, 51 E. Mountain Road, three vehicles, 2015 Toyota Camry (towed), 2005 Lexus (towed) and 2003 Nissan Sentra, two transported to Baystate Noble Hospital;
9:35 p.m.: tree down, Canal Drive, services rendered;
9:54 p.m.: motor vehicle theft, Schumann Drive, resident reported theft of his vehicle’s license plate;
11:39 p.m.: disturbance, King Street, party reported that when she asked her guest to leave he kicked her door in injuring her eye, he ran off but police caught him, Jared Graham, 24, of 1185 Huntington Road, Russell arrested on two outstanding warrants.
