Richard E. Fuller

WESTFIELD, MA: flagRichard E. Fuller, 80 of Springfield, MA passed away quietly at Baystate Hospital on April 6, 2016 at 5:15 A.M. while surrounded by loving family.  He was born May 19, 1935 in Agawam, MA to Richard Clarence Fuller & Barbara Marion Holloway.  He went on to serve his country in the Korean War as a soldier in The U.S. Army Field Artillery. After his honorable discharge, he married his beloved wife Joyce Marie Holcomb who predeceased him in September 1999. He always had a strong work ethic of which many employers appreciated including Bannish Lumber & Walkerbath before he retired from Westfield River Paper Company after 23 years as a Beater Engineer. Even during retirement he insisted on keeping busy working for JIT Machinery part time.  He is survived by his sister, Carolyn Dorval, sons Arthur Markham & wife Sharon of FL, Kevin Fuller & wife Chris of FL, Keith Fuller & wife Patti of Springfield, MA, Kenneth Fuller & wife Audra of FL, Kris Fuller & wife Crystal of Blandford, MA, survived by his daughter Karen Richards & husband Allen of Westfield, MA, Kimberly Fuller of Westfield, MA, Pamela Fuller-Jones of FL, & Sheila Fuller of ME.He is also survived by his many grandchildren Ashley, Andy, Kyle, Austin, Sabrina, Amanda, Allison, Anna, Amber, Ashlyn, Alex, Kaylee, Autumn, Addison, Levi, Shawn, Tyler, Samantha, Caitlin, David, Kim, Joshua, & Lordyn, and Great Grandchildren, Kobe, Connor, Kayden, Amy-Lee, Alexandra, & Grayson.  Richard worked hard but also had a love for racing. He was often found tinkering with his cars to prepare for the weekend at Riverside Speedway where there are probably still some drag marks from one of his burn-outs. Family parties at the Fuller’s were always over the top with more food for anyone who might just stop in unannounced. Everyone wanted to be a part of the Family and they were always treated that way. Richard & Joyce welcomed everyone with open arms and lots of food whether it was a cookout with burgers from North Elm Butcher Block or the family camping trip down at Hammonasset Beach. They always made a big effort for the Hammonasset Fuller Family Camping Trip to be the best trip every year. Richard & Joyce would make sure everyone had a good time with campfires, food, and lots of stories.Whether you were family, friends, or a perfect stranger in need, Richard would go out of his way to take care of people. If you were hungry, needed someone to talk to, or even if you were a stranger on the side of the road with a flat tire, he would graciously take time from his day to help.To celebrate his life, we invite everyone to play some classic Country music, have a big cookout with loved ones, and smoke your favorite Stogie in honor of Richard Earl Fuller.
