WESTFIELD: John J. Janik, 85, of Westfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Mary’s Meadows in Holyoke. The son of Joseph Janik and Mary (Padykula) Janik, John was born January 9, 1935 in Chicopee. After graduating from Chicopee Trade School, he worked as a machinist/tool maker. John also served in the U.S. Army National Guard and eventually retired as a machinist/tool maker from EBA Inc. Machine Shop in East Longmeadow, MA. John was a communicant of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish in Westfield. A loyal fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Bruins, Jay never missed a game and everyone knew when there was a game or golf championship on; it was strictly “Do Not Disturb.” He also enjoyed golfing, reading, delivering wedding flowers with his wife, and cooking spicy chili and salsa–the hotter, the better.
John is predeceased by his wife, Joanne A. Janik, sister-in-laws, Helen Niemiec, Stacia Mazur, and three brother-in-laws, Joseph Rogalski, Frank Sypek, and Stanley Mazur. He is survived by his sister Dorothy Rogalski, sister-in-law, Mary H. Russell and her husband Robert, bother-in-law Robert Niemiec, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and countless dear friends– dearest among them Tom and Beverly. John loved animals and his dogs Brutus, Champ, and Kelly.
The funeral for John will be held on Saturday, December 19th from 9:00-10:30 am from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield followed by a Mass at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 127 Holyoke Road, Westfield.
