Midnight: North Elm Street, a patrol officer reports he observed two people at a vehicle with what appeared to be an assault rifle, the officer reports further investigation revealed the gun to be an air soft replica of a Kalashnikov rifle;
12:57 a.m.: assist resident, North Elm Street, a patrol officer reports he was advised of a man walking in the middle of the roadway, the officer reports the man was provided a courtesy transport to a Root Road address;
4:06 a.m.: disturbance, Orange Street at Sibley Avenue, a caller reports he encountered a friend who was bloody, dual response dispatched, the responding officer reports the victim was found to have cut himself punching a window and was transported to Baystate Medical Center for treatment, the officer reports a routine check revealed that the caller was the subject of an outstanding warrant, Leeroy Neddeau, 27, of 15 Lincoln St., was arrested on the warrant issued in 2013 by Springfield district court;
9:01 a.m.: school investigation, Westfield High School, a school resource officer reports that he was advised that an administration had found a boy with a pocket knife in his possession, the SRO reports the boy said that he forgot the knife was on his person when he went to school, the boy was suspended for 10 days;
10:57 a.m.: illegal dumping, Medeiros Way at Root Road, a patrol officer reports that melting snow uncovered several trash bags and he investigated to find the bags contain asbestos, the DPW was notified;
11:00 a.m.: trespassing, Brentwood Drive, a caller reports a family member who has been served with a ‘No trespassing’ order came to the house, the responding officer reports the suspect was found at the house and said that he was aware of the order but said he is homeless and needed to do some laundry, Joseph Robert Franzen, 28, of no fixed address, was arrested for trespass;
11:01 a.m.: vandalism, Broad Street, a caller reports an arrow was shot through a business’s sign, the responding officer reports the trajectory of the arrow suggested that it was shot from a window of a nearby building, the officer reports that the window in question had not been recently opened;
11:22 a.m.: found property, Bartlett Street, a caller reports a hypodermic needle was found in the grass, the responding officer reports the needle was safely disposed of;
1:35 a.m.: fire, Colony Drive, a caller reports a car is on fire in a neighbor’s driveway, dual response dispatched, a second caller reports a car is fully engulfed and a nearby car has ignited, the responding fire captain reports both cars were extinguished;
2:36 p.m.: found property, White Street, a caller reports a hypodermic needle was found, the responding officer reports the needle was safely disposed of;
3:20 p.m.: animal complaint, King Street, the manager of animal control operations reports a white female Maltese dog with a pink collar which followed pedestrians was taken into custody and transported the municipal animal shelter;
5:37 p.m.: found property, Maple Street, a caller reports finding two hypodermic needles in her front yard, the responding officer reports the needles were safely disposed of.
