WESTFIELD: 
Fred H Scholpp, 89, (1925-2015) died Saturday May 23, 2015 in a local nursing home with his family by his side. Born in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Fred J and Margaret Consolatti- Scholpp. Fred was a resident of Westfield most of his life, attending local schools and graduating from Westfield High School. He retired as former co-owner of Trasko’s Garage. Fred was a U.S. Marine veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific Theater and at Okinawa. He was later activated as a Marine Reserve during the Korean War. Fred was a member of St John’s Lutheran Church, Westfield, the Moose club, and the Westfield River Valley Marine Corps League. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. Fred leaves his wife of 65 years, Catherine P Fucci-Scholpp; his three children, Kathleen Scholpp of Westfield, Karl Scholpp of Westfield, and Christyne Lapan of NH; 6 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Daniel, and Matthew Lapan, Kristen, Lauren, and Holden Scholpp; a brother Louis Scholpp of Tampa, FL and a sister Margaret Greene of Westfield. The family would like to thank Governor’s Center and Noble Hospital for being so loving and kind to him during his stays. Funeral services will take place Friday at 9:30 am from St John’s Lutheran Church, Broad St, followed by burial with full military honors in St Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4-7 pm at the Robert E Cusack Funeral Home, 94 Main St, all in Westfield.
