WESTFIELD – Thomas S. Hartnett, 97, of Westfield died Monday July 6, 2015 in Mercy Medical Center. He has born in Palmer on August 15, 1917 son of the late Daniel T. and Eleanor (Cavanaugh) Hartnett. Thomas grew up in Three Rivers and West Springfield and was a 1936 graduate of West Springfield High School. He was employed at Gilbert and Barker Manufacturing Company in West Springfield for thirty years. Thomas was also a TV Repairman for Sears and Roebuck and retired as an inspector for Digital Equipment in 1983. He enjoyed hunting, golfing and fishing and was a member of the Easthampton Sportsman’s Club. Thomas was the widower of Cecile M. (Fredette) Hartnett. He leaves his son Bernie Hartnett and his wife Louise of Westfield, four grandchildren, Sarah Hartnett-Sanders and her husband Justin, Colin, Brendan and Bridget Hartnett and several nieces and nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his son Thomas D. Hartnett who died in March of this year and two sisters Mary Smith and Rita Simpson. A calling hour will be held on Saturday morning July 11th from 8:30-9:30 am from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. A Liturgy of Christian Burial in Holy Trinity Church will follow at10 AM.Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
