WHS Bombers take on WMASS Knights in charity game
WESTFIELD – The WHS Bombers Varsity will be taking on the WMASS Knights in a sled hockey charity game, this Sunday, 2/26, at 4 p.m. at Amelia Park Ice Arena. Raffles and 50/50 will benefit the WMASS Knights Adult Sled Hockey Team.
The Knights sled hockey program allows physically disabled athletes the opportunity to play the game of hockey. The Knights are part of CHD’s Disability Resources Program. The athletes are from throughout Western Mass and range in age from 14 to 62.
“We love this game because the Bombers take us on in sleds,” said Carole Appleton, Assistant Coach of the Knights. “It is great to see them play our game and we certainly appreciate their efforts to support our program. If we could only get Coach “Moose” Matthews in a sled, that would be the ultimate.”
This sled hockey challenge is part of a series of fundraisers for the Knights. The next fundraising game will be Sunday, April 1st at 11am at Amelia Park Ice Arena against the UMASS Men’s Club team. The Knights complete their season at the 14th Annual New England Invitational Sled Hockey Tournament to be held at Amelia Park Ice Arena April 27-29, 2012.
