WESTFIELD – The goal set by Diana McLean, president of the board of directors of the Amelia Park Children’s Museum, for an outdoor movie theater system to allow for community movie nights is $4,000.
“We’ve raised $130 to date through our gofundme.com campaign,” said McLean.
McLean encourages city residents to consider making a donation to the fund drive since the theater system will be used by the museum, as well as functions in the downtown area and municipal parks.
“The park green is an especially great venue for this theater system,” she said.
McLean noted that the museum’s board of directors is also working on this project with the city’s Youth Commission.
“We are working with the Youth Commission so that future events downtown, including the park green, can benefit all residents,” she said. “Members of the Youth Commission are currently creating posters to get the word out about the campaign.”
McLean said that all donations are tax deductible since the museum is a nonprofit organization.
“Residents can also make a gift on someone’s behalf so when that person goes to the movies they know they were part of the effort to raise funds,” she said.
McLean said persons can visit the gofundme.com website and put in the key words “outdoor theater, Westfield, MA.” Also, donations can be sent to the museum, 29 South Broad St., with the subject line noting “outdoor theater.
For more information on the fund drive, call the museum at (413) 572-4014 or visit its Facebook page.
