Applications Being Accepted for Two More Westfield Neighborhoods and General Informational Sessions Planned

Westfield, MA, August 2016—Westfield residents are seeing Whip City Fiber trucks all over town these days. The high-speed fiber optic project, powered by Westfield Gas + Electric, is continuing to roll out across Westfield with two new neighborhoods now accepting applications. Residents of the Wildflower Circle/Munger Hill Road area as well as the Eastwood Acres/Scarfo Heights area are now eligible to complete their service applications at whipcityfiber.com. Customers in these areas who submit their applications before September 30 will receive a free month of service.

Whip City Fiber offers full fiber optic service to residential and commercial customers at speeds of 1 gigabit or 1,000 Mbps for upload and download.

“The residents of Westfield are anxious for high-speed internet to be available in their neighborhoods and the installations are really rolling now,” said Dan Howard, Westfield Gas + Electric General Manager. “It’s great to open the process to additional customers in these new areas. It’s really an exciting time for this project.”

These two neighborhoods now join eight others where Whip City Fiber construction and service activations are currently underway.  The public is invited to attend an informational social gathering between the hours of 6PM and 8PM on Monday, August 29th at Paper Mill School and again on Tuesday, August 30th at Munger Hill School.  Representatives from Whip City Fiber and Westfield Gas and Electric will be there to answer any questions relating to the construction and service installation techniques of Whip City Fiber.  There will also be educational  materials and displays available for those who wish to learn more about “cutting the cord” and viewing their video entertainment “over the top” utilizing the various  streaming technologies available.  In addition, there will also be raffle prizes and light refreshments available.
