Westfield – Joseph J. Maslar, 85, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born in Westfield to the late Emil and Veronica Maslar. Joe worked for many years for Westfield Tool and Die and Vogform Tool and Die. He was a member of the Slovak Hall, he enjoyed playing cards, going to casinos, and playing scratch tickets. He was also a golfer and frequent bowler. Joe was a loving dedicated family man. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Janet (Thayer) Maslar, his loving sons, Bruce, Joe and Richard and daughter Donna. In addition there are his 10 cherished grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by siblings John, Emil, Steve, Andy, Albert, Anne, Mary, Sophie and Veronica. He is survived by his sister Margaret and Rose.His funeral will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017with a Mass at 12 noon in St. Peter’s Church, State St., Westfield. Burial will be private and at a later date. Visiting hours will precede the Mass on Saturday from 10-11:30AM at Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield, MA 01085.
