Westfield – Richard S. Puffer, 72, passed Monday, January 23, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born on January 2, 1945 to the late Richard L. and Barbara (Stewart) Puffer. He was born in Springfield, raised in Blandford and was a 60-year resident of Westfield. After graduation from Westfield Trade School, he went on to serve in the U.S. Airforce, and was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. After serving his country, Richard worked in the area paper mills for many years. He was a long-time member of Mount Moriah Lodge AF & AM and the First Congregational Church. He loved fishing, woodworking, and most of all he loved his wife, children and grandsons. He leaves his wife of 50 years Sandra (Sczczuczynski) Puffer, his son Edward Puffer and his wife Stephanie, his daughter Charlen Benoit and her husband John, his grandsons Matthew Puffer and Evan Benoit all of Westfield. He also leaves his late cousin Timothy J. Puffer’s family, Rosita Puffer her daughter Kimberly and granddaughter Serena. A graveside service for Richard will be held on Friday January 27th at 11 am in North Amherst Cemetery, East Pleasant Street, Amherst, MA.
