Margo Dern

Rose SOUTHWICK- Margo (Parsons) Dern, 83, (1933-2017) died January 23 2017. She was born in London, England on March 2nd, 1933 to Alicia (Hard) Parsons and Ernest Parsons. She graduated from The Honor Oak School for Girls and Lewisham College, London, England.

Margo came to the US in 1954. She was the Travel Manager of the AAA in Manchester, NH. In 1959 she appeared on a weekly travel program on WMUR-TV in Manchester, NH.

In 1960 she was employed by the US Department of Defense and was stationed at a US Air Force base in England where she met and married her husband Colonel Arthur Dern. She was personal assistant to the base Comptroller and part-time Court Stenographer.

Upon her husband’s retirement from the Air Force they moved to Southwick in 1967. For many years Margo worked as a volunteer at the Southwick Public Library and was a member of the Library Board of Trustees. She also worked as a Polling Clerk for 30 years. She was an avid reader and doll collector.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 37 years, Arthur Dern in 2000. She is survived by her brother, David Parsons of Asheville, NC and sister, Alana Fox of Bournemouth, England, several nieces and nephews.
