2:10 a.m.: Motor vehicle violation, Main Street and Free Street. Police stopped a vehicle that allegedly did not have its headlights on. During the stop, police noted that the vehicle fled the scene at a speed of “58 MPH.” Additionally, police reported that the driver allegedly provided a “fake license prior to leaving the scene.” Police lost the vehicle. According to police after, the lessee of the alleged vehicle was questioned but was “less than cooperative,” and police did not suspect them of being the driver.
6:31 a.m.: Accident, North Elm Street. Police received a report of a 2001 Ford F350 that reportedly struck a tree and went across a lawn. In addition, there was a sign and tree that were both knocked down by the accident. Police had the vehicle towed but no injuries were reported.
8:43 a.m.: Motor vehicle complaint and arrest, North Road and Jaeger Drive. Police received a report from another driver that a vehicle was allegedly “all over the roadway,” including crossing a double yellow line. Police were given a license plate number but it was initially incorrect, according to the log. However, police were able to find the vehicle and stop it. Police found that the alleged operator, Richard Oathout, 30, of Westfield, had two warrants for his arrest and had a revoked license. Police arrested Oathout on the two warrants and also charged him with operating a motor vehicle with a license revoked.
11:37 a.m.: Larceny, Jeffrey Lane. Police received a report of a larceny from a home. According to police, $800, jewelry and medication was reported stolen. It was reported that the items were in a lockbox and the box reportedly had “pry marks” on it. Police are investigating.
1:23 p.m.: Shoplifting, East Main Street. Police received a report of a past shoplifting that was caught on camera. The incident reportedly occurred Feb. 23. Police are investigating.
2:44 p.m.: Assault, Court Street. Police received a report that three youths were reportedly hit with airsoft pellets on King Street. According to police, other youths reportedly “accidentally shot” the others, and no charges were filed.
2:47 p.m.: Accident, Franklin Street and Washington Street. Police received a report of a two-vehicle crash involving a 1997 Acura Integra and a 2005 Jeep Wrangler. One tow truck was requested but no injuries were reported.
