Westfield – Valentine Joseph Bonafilia, 93, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018 in a local nursing home. He was born in Holyoke, MA on March 4, 1925 to the late William and Mary (Dzeima) Bonafilia. He spent most of his life in Westfield and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW-2. He worked at several local machine shops for 57 years and retired from Tell Tool Inc. He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary for 32 years. He enjoyed Deep Sea Fishing and held the record Stripped Bass for 11 years in CT. He was pre-deceased by his wife Winifred (Goulet) Bonafilia in 1981. He leaves his children Joe Bonafilia of Westfield, Jim Bonafilia of West Springfield, Tim Bonafilia of Marysville, Washington, Gayle Cortis of Port St. Lucie and Valarie Bein of Westfield. Valentine also leaves 12 grandchildren, and several great and great-great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his brother Joseph Bonafilia, his sister Eva Lacuyer and his grandson Jimmy Bonafilia. The funeral will be held on Monday, March 12th at 1 pm from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
