Hey Westfield, I hope you are having a good summer. I do want to join the many who give you warnings about leaving children and pets in the car. What a horrific way to die. There is another group that is not addressed: seniors. Just as, with little kids, us older folk do not adapt to the heated car very well. That quick run into the store that turns into a half hour can be deadly to us too. There have been a couple of times that I have knocked on a car window when seeing a senior looking distressed. I just suggested stepping into the shade till their driver shows up. It would be nice if stores had chairs or benches for people to sit and wait. I know it aesthetics are terrible, especially if some homeless person sits there. But, saving lives should be more important than appearances. I know the superficial rules!

Next: in talking to guys working on the bike bridge near Whitney Park; the opening of the bridge to people and bike traffic should be soon, July or August. It is getting a lot of attention from people I talk with: wanting to know how far they can go along the route. I do hope that the connector on the overpasses will begin to be worked, as many want to be able to ride from the Northside to Southwick and beyond. I take it that there is a problem heading north, as Southampton is reluctant to have the bike trail going through their town. And, I do hope that there is a better alternative to going up 10/202 No. Elm St. The traffic on that hill is dangerous, and some slim bike path would be more than dangerous, and libelous.

Next no. 2: Arnold St. folks we are off the plan for Fiber! Too few people here. In talking to some people at G&E there are other streets too that lack population even though streets near them will have it. Van Deusen has a population but you have to get the owners to agree to have the equipment. But, I am still trying… Next no. 3: What is with this water problem? Now a petition to stop the funding. I was impressed by DPM Director Dave Billips response on costs if that happened. Plus why all the effort of all these years to now want to NOT spend the money to correct the problem????

OK, last, and I cannot go through an editorial without a bit of cynical humor over our world. In a previous edit I commented about the rift being created with Canada. OK, since then a French woman was arrested and incarcerated for illegally crossing the border in British Columbia. She was swimming, and walked down the beach; there were no border signs; got arrested and spent 2 weeks in jail for crossing the border? Then 4 people were arrested crossing into New Hampshire, and Canada is now making cannabis legal throughout the country. Plus with the tariff war, and that Canada’ tariffs are threat to our National security: BORDER WALL time or what? Our allies he treats like crap, Putin who supports Iran, reneged on promises to resolve some of the Syrian conflict, supports N. Korea, has his navy spy on our sub base; buzzes American Military flights over open waters, and has a well document history of hacking into American resources, provoking strife between Americans to influence our elections, and discredit our Free Press; Trumps says he’ll ask him if he has interfered; wants to be his friend. Oh, I get it, once he is our friend, and then he can disrespect him. Or, maybe he can get a deal as he did with No. Korea, where we give up stuff, they give up nothing, and get to intensify their nuke program as our Intel has already detected. They even cancelled the meeting about returning the remains of American military who died in the Korean War. Sorry, got to vent when such is happening in our America.
