Walter F. Hagan

Westfield – Walter F. Hagan, 84, of Westfield, died peacefully on Friday, July 6, 2018, surrounded by his family.  He was the husband of Barbara A. (White) Hagan, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.  Born and raised in Westfield, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary (Holden) Hagan. Walter was a middle school teacher with the Town of Granby, CT for 36 years.  He was a member of the Westfield Lodge of Elks, Sons of Erin, Westfield YMCA and Retired Teachers of CT.  He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church where he served as head usher for many years.  Walter was a  hard-working man,  an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman.  He enjoyed nature and it brought him peace. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Patricia A. (Hagan) Egerton and her husband Durand of Middletown, CT, and Timothy F. Hagan and his wife Lynn of Reading, MA, and his three grandchildren Christopher, Matthew, and Caroline all of Reading, MA.  He was predeceased by his three older brothers, William (Bill) of West Hartford, CT, Charles (Bud) of Westfield and Bernard (Dick) of Southwick.  He also leaves many nieces and a nephew.

The funeral for Walter will be held on Friday July 20th at 9:30 am from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield followed by A Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. Mary’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday at the funeral home from 4-7 pm. Firtionadams.com
