Hello Westfield, and my friends in Ward 3. It is with much sadness, on several levels, that the news announced that Sen. John McCain is going to cease his brain cancer treatment. Regardless of how the president has treated him; this is again a presentation of courage and principles. John McCain was a real war hero, and not just a vicarious one as is his chief detractor. And, military school does not a soldier make you. Anyway, it was however wonderful to see, and hear the ENTIRE Congress, praise him. The levels of sadness include first a heroic Veteran taking this path. 2nd, as a man of reason. He too is out spoken for his beliefs and principles; but to the benefit of OUR nation, and not to the detriment of it. 3rd He did not have to lower himself to derogatory insults, lies, and myth/mis-information of alternate facts. He does not need to claim responsibility for all that is good, and blame others for all that went wrong in our world. Instead, he praised the good and the contributions made by others regardless of affiliation. He has not betrayed family; but instead wants to end the treatments to spend his days with his family. As a Vet, and as an American I must say, while I disagreed with some of his policies, he was a man of integrity and honor for whom I had respect. And, he brought respect to America. There are so few in the upper levels of our government with such credibility.
Please join with me, and so many of our fellow Americans in our thoughts and prayers for Sen. and war hero John McCain, and his family. Your former Ward 3 City Councilor, Brian Hoose…[email protected]
