Westfield – Eleanor “Elly” Jacobs (1929-2018) was carried to heaven in the loving arms of her beloved husband Rollie on November 3, 2018. Elly was the daughter of Frederick and Mabel Schrank and was born in Brooklyn, NY. She was the first in her family to graduate from high school (Freeport, Long Island, NY) where she was a drum majorette with the school band. She also twirled her fire baton at the local track prior to car races. Elly was an active member of many civic organizations in her home community of Westfield, and was an especially proud member of the Tuesday Morning Club and the Boa Sisterhood. Side by side with her husband, she supported many charitable organizations throughout Western Massachusetts. Elly was also an active parishioner at Grace Lutheran Church in West Springfield. Elly’s great pride and joy was being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wife as Mrs. Rollie Jacobs. She was a devoted homemaker, loved tending to her flower gardens, and cooking for family and friends. She enjoyed many days at her second home in Sun Valley, CT. Her door was always open and a meal was always waiting. Her generosity and compassion for others were unsurpassed. Elly was predeceased by Rollie in 2014, and by sisters Mabel and Lillian. She leaves her brother Walter Schrank, children Patricia Voyer (Aris), Kathy Gamache (Gerald), and Dr. Roland Jacobs (Alison), her grandchildren Scott and Lynn Gonyer, Katherine (Voyer) Klein (Kevin), and Ariana Voyer, and Shelby and Jackson Jacobs, and great-grandchildren Mia, Christopher and Sarah who loved their Grammie so much. Her family would like to thank her many caregivers the past 4+ years and friends who gave generously of their time and love to comfort and uplift her. Even in her suffering, she touched many lives. If you were a recipient of the Elly hand squeeze or if she blew you a kiss, then you truly knew her. A church service will be held on Monday, November 12th at Grace Lutheran Church, 1552 Westfield Street, West Springfield MA 01089 at 10:00 am. Internment at MA Veterans Cemetery will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made in Elly’s name to Grace Lutheran Church for their Youth Ministries program
