SOUTHWICK – The 7th Annual Thanksgiving at Moolicious Farms has been deemed a success. According to Southwick Civic Fund President Joe Deedy, and owner of Moolicious Farms, they made 148 complimentary Thanksgiving meals for people throughout the community.
The meals were for those who opted to eat inside the restaurant at Moolicious as well as the meals that were delivered to homes that signed up for a meal. Deedy also received assistance from about 50 volunteers.
“All of the help from the local residents who contributed has just been wonderful,” said Deedy.
The event included a shuttle bus operated by Select Board Clerk Doug Moglin and aided by Southwick Chief of Police Kevin Bishop, that picked people up from their homes and brought them to the dinner at Moolicious.
Leading up to the meal and in recent years past, Deedy has heard people talking about the event.
“Now it’s almost a gathering,” said Deedy.
Deedy added that he was able to sit down with people he’s never met as well as return customers.
This year, the Southwick Civic Fund, the non-profit organization that supports the local community, received both food for the meal as well as monetary donations to purchase more ingredients for the meal.
“It gives us a cushion for the following year,” said Deedy.
A free meal for all in the community, the event began at 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving. Deedy noted that more than 35 people signed up to reserve a spot for seating at the restaurant.
