Upcoming April Programs at WSPL
The Lincoln Assassination – with Christopher Daley, Tuesday, April 9th from 7:00-8:30pm. Richmond had fallen, General Robert E. Lee had surrendered, and the Civil War was ending. And then Abraham Lincoln was plucked from this earth as if his mission here had been accomplished – to keep the United States united…to preserve the Union. As we approach the anniversary of the assassination, join us for a lecture by historian Christopher Daley to look back at this tragic event in American history. This program is free, and open to the public.
Investment and Retirement Fees – with Susan Allen, Wednesday, April 10th from 6:30-8pm. Join Financial Advisor, Susan Allen, for a workshop that will explain the fees on your 401k, IRA and brokerage accounts. She will discuss the charges on mutual funds and annuities, the commissions and penalties on Index funds, and the penalties to avoid when you “roll over” your money. This program is free, but space is limited. Registration is required.
Music Sandwiched In Continues at WSPL. Laurie Festa, Saturday, April 13th from 12:00-1:00PM. A Springfield native, Laurie Festa has always loved music. As a youth she studied piano, and in her teens she began singing with her church choir and giving solo performances at weddings and nursing homes, with help from her father. She attended Westfield State College studying voice, composition, and music education. Now Laurie specializes in eclectic performances combining classic songs from jazz, country, rock, and Broadway. Music Sandwiched In is the West Springfield Public Library’s annual lunchtime concert series. The series is sponsored by the Friends of Library and the Library staff, and is intended to appeal to and reflect the diversity of the West Side community. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch or a snack to enjoy during the performance.
These performances are free and open to the public. The West Springfield Public Library is located at 200 Park Street. For more information on these programs call: 413-736-4561 ext. 3, or stop by the Library’s Adult Services Desk.
