SOUTHWICK – The Council on Aging is hosting a free health fair the Southwick Senior Center on Thursday from 9 a.m. – noon.
According to Council on Aging Director Cindy Sullivan, they’ve had a health fair twice before, but it was in the auditorium. On Thursday, the health fair will be right at the senior center spread throughout the activities room and the dining area.
“I’d love to see a lot of seniors come and get some information,” said Sullivan. “I think everyone would benefit from coming.”
With more than 40 vendors expected at the fair, there will be a wide variety of businesses and organizations in the health industry that will be able to assist seniors and anyone in attendance. Sullivan noted that some of those organizations include Mercy Hospital, AARP, American Red Cross, the Alzheimers Association, and Holyoke Hospice. Other help includes social security, financial advisors, and a massage therapist.
While the health fair is anticipated to be mostly for the benefit of senior citizens, the event is open to anyone in the public. It’s also noted that due to the health fair, the senior center will be closed on Thursday.
