Southwick Public Library October Teen Happenings
DIY Comic Book Wallet—October 2-16: Supplies and guides will be in the YA section for you to make your own wallet out of comic pages and duct tape. Drop into the YA section when it’s convenient for you to make your own!
Haunted Gingerbread Houses—Wednesday, October 30, 2:30-3:30. Put a terrifying spin on this Christmas classic. See if you can make the scariest gingerbread house using the supplies given. No registration required, all materials provided. For students entering 7-12th grade.
Teen volunteer opportunities. Interested in earning volunteer hours for community service, college or job applications? We have two opportunities for you this year. If you can commit to both, you are welcome to apply for both. These opportunities are for students in 7-12th grade. Page Volunteers—help with shelving, organizing, preparing book and bulletin board displays for the young adult area, and other activities as needed. This opportunity requires that volunteers commit to an hour a week at a mutually agreed upon time. The first session runs from November-February. There will be an interview session for new applicants Thursday, November 7 at 3:00. The training session will take place November 14 at 3:00.
Teen Advisory Board Volunteers—Create, plan and help facilitate teen activities and events, as well as suggesting materials for the teen collection. Commit to meeting the second Tuesday each month from 2:30-4:00 for 4 sessions. Our first meeting will be November 12.
