WESTFIELD – 
David James Williams, 87, passed away Tuesday, March 10th in the peace of his home in Westfield with his family. David was born in Nashua, New Hampshire to Frank and Helena Mallon Williams. David grew up in Nashua and attended the Howe School in Billerica MA. David was a talented baseball player, being scouted in his early days. His love for sports and baseball was something that would continue throughout his life and he would pass down to his children and grandchildren, creating many great memories together. David was an Inspector for Hamilton Standard for 39 years in Windsor Locks, CT, and worked on the Apollo Moon Landing Program before retiring in 1992.
David was married to Jeanette Trottier Williams for 65 years and over the years they enjoyed many trips together and with their family, as well as summers in Maine. David enjoyed passing down his family’s Irish legacy to his children and grandchildren and teaching them about their treasured history in Ireland. Following retirement David volunteered as a member on the United Way Distribution Steering Committee dedicating much time to ensure that certain local community programs and services would be on the receiving end of their financial distribution. His attention to detail and commitment made sure that no one was overlooked. He enjoyed spending his summer days planting and tending to his large vegetable garden that his family was happy to benefit from, particularly from his tomatoes, beets and squash. He also loved attending races and keeping up with all of the details of Major Thoroughbred Horse Racing. David was also a well-informed and studious investor for many years.
David was preceded by his father and mother, Frank and Helena Williams, his son James Williams and his wife, Jeannette Williams. He leaves his daughter, Susan Williams of Jersey City N.J. and his son, Robert Williams, of Westfield. He also leaves his granddaughter, Nicole Perry and her husband Tim of Hadley, his grandson, Grant Williams and his wife Casey of Templeton, two great-grandsons, Charlie and Hugh and many beloved cousins. Upon passing, David was taken to repose with a traditional Irish Procession and Pastoral Blessing with family members, bagpipes and long-time neighbors paying their respects at his home. David will be in repose with calling hours Friday, March 13th from 4-7 p.m. at Firtion-Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad St. Westfield. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 14th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Parish 30 Bartlett St. Westfield with Christian burial taking place afterwards. Firtionadams.com
