WESTFIELD: Carl J. Crawford Sr., 90, a lifelong resident of Westfield, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at his home with the comfort of his children. He was born in Westfield on July 30, 1930 to the late Carl C. and Bertha A. (Davis) Crawford. He attended Westfield Public Schools prior to joining the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Carl returned home to Westfield after his service in the U.S. Air Force with his wife Nancy. He worked as a machinist at Precision Tool for 13 years, Advance Mfg. for 9 years and Berkshire Industries for 18 years. He retired as a machinist in 1992 and went to work with Balise Auto as a part time driver for 20 years. He belonged to Mt. Moriah Lodge, Melha Shriners Haji Unit, American Legion and the VFW. He enjoyed his time with his wife Nancy, square dancing, weekend camping from spring to fall and then after retiring traveling to Myrtle Beach, S.C. to spend their winters.
He was pre-deceased by his wife Nancy Jane (Gilman) Crawford in January of this year after 69 years of marriage. He leaves his daughter Karen Terrett of Westfield, his son Carl J. Crawford Jr. and his wife Fran of Chesapeake, VA. He also leaves three grandsons, Michael Kotarski and his wife Michelle, Keith and Caelan Crawford, one granddaughter Michelle Kotarski, 6 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his sister Dorothy Youmell, and his son-in-law Mark Terrett.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 8th from 4-6 pm from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. The funeral will be held on Monday at the funeral home at 11:30 am followed by burial in the Mass. Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
