WESTFIELD: Stella A. (Jemiolo) Chmura passed away peacefully at home on April 20, 2021 surrounded by her children. She was born in Southwick, MA on 11/07/1928 and lived most of her life in Westfield until moving to Contoocook, NH in 2019. She was a 1946 graduate of Westfield High School and in her 40’s fulfilled a lifelong dream to become a nurse receiving a nursing degree from Holyoke Community College. She retired from Western Massachusetts Hospital where she cared for patients on the coma unit.
Stella is predeceased by her husband of 39 years Joseph W. Chmura, her parents, Anna Szymaszek Jemiolo & Joseph Jemiolo, and her six brothers Bernard, Matthew, Frank, John, Stanley & Walter. She leaves behind her children Joanne Benjamin and her husband Bruce of Ludlow, Suzanne Chmura and her partner John Coyle of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Scott Chmura and his girlfriend Stephanie Rivera of Contoocook, NH. Stella also leaves behind four grandchildren and a great-grandson, Roxanne, Brittany, Ashlyn, Estelle and Luke whom she dearly loved. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she will miss entertaining at Easter each year and will miss her beloved sister-in-law Bette Jemiolo.
A mass will be held at Holy Trinity Church in Westfield, MA on Saturday, May 8th at 11:00 a.m. followed by a graveside service at St. Mary’s cemetery.
