GRANVILLE: James Novak, 23, (1998-2021) passed away unexpectedly on September 25, 2021; as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was the son of Anthony C. Novak of Granville and Karen (Stoltz) Novak of Southwick.
He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on June 29, 1998. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Equine Studies from the University of Findlay, Findlay Ohio.
James touched so many people, myself included. I truly loved him. James was my best friend and I miss him dearly. I’ve been struggling with the loss as I know you are. I could always depend on James to be there for me to lend a hand or an ear or sometimes tell me things I didn’t want to hear but needed to. We had a little joke that he was my magic 8 ball and I always told him he was a unicorn because he was so amazing and there just aren’t people out there like him. I can’t explain how thankful I am for being friends with him or even getting those last few hours we had recently. Your son was one of a kind. Your family has lost a son, a brother, and so much more as the equine community has lost one of the most wonderful horseman and so many others losing a friend. Some will never be as lucky as I was to have had him in my life. So thank you for such an incredible young man.
In addition to his parents, James is survived by his sister Paula Jean Novak of Texas; three uncles, Jim Novak and his wife Laurie of Rome Pennsylvania, Leonard Stoltz and Mark Stoltz both of Lexington, Kentucky; two aunts, Paula Rose and Lynn Ann Bishop both of Kentucky; his stepmother, Jessica Faith Vastano, and stepsister, Alana Marie Vastano.
The family will gather from 1:00PM-4:00PM, on Saturday, October 2, 2021 in the Southwick Forastiere Funeral and Cremation, 624 College Highway, Southwick. A memorial service will follow at 4:00PM in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Southwick Animal Shelter, 11 Depot St., Southwick, MA 01077.
