WESTFIELD: Diane Rosingana, of Westfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, November 18, 2021, after a long illness.
Diane (Restel) Rosingana was born in Pittsfield, MA, on February 11, 1944, the eldest daughter of Dot and Jimmy Restel. She graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1961 where she met the love of her life and husband of 54 years, Aldo Rosingana. Diane and Aldo were married on June 3, 1967 and moved to Westfield in 1968 to start their family. Diane worked briefly at Mass Mutual but left to raise her two children Dean and Margo. Raising her children and providing daycare for neighborhood kids unlocked Diane’s passion for teaching and nurturing young children. She returned to school and received her degree in Early Childhood Education from Holyoke Community College in 1985. She then began a new career, starting as an assistant preschool teacher at the Westfield YMCA and working her way up to become the Director of the Y’s preschool program. She retired in 2009 after 23 years. Diane was a founding board member (1994 – 2003) of the Discover Westfield Children’s Museum. After her retirement and until she received a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, she volunteered in the classrooms of Westfield Public Schools, reading to elementary school students.
Diane enjoyed reading, crafting, and sewing. She loved vacationing on Cape Cod and traveling to Maine to visit her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed attending concerts at Tanglewood and supporting local theater productions.
Diane is survived by her husband Aldo; her son Dean and his wife Katie and their children Abby and Sarah of Gorham, ME; her daughter Margo and her husband Matt Wasowski of Portland, ME; her sisters Susan Meckes, Pam O’Donnell, and Sharon Tatro all of Pittsfield, MA; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Her family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and all of the staff at Western Mass Hospital for the excellent care and quality of service they provided for Diane.
Calling hours will be on Saturday November 27, 2021, from 3-5 PM with her funeral service to follow at 5 PM held at Firtion-Adams Funeral Services, 76 Broad St., Westfield.
