Savannah, GA – David J. Ziter, Jr., 70 (July 1, 1952-September 20, 2022) passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by his wife, Jan, his son David, and daughter Kelly. Dave was born in Enfield, CT to Theresa & David Ziter, Sr. He was a graduate of Enfield High School, class of ‘70, and American International College, class of ’74. After college, David joined the Army National Guard and then began working for his father at Ziter & Associates in the commercial real estate business. It was fairly well known that David Sr. was the front man…but Dave Jr. was the guy behind the scenes making it all work well. He was married to Susan Hope from 1974 to 1995, and they had two children together: Kelly and David.
Over the years, Dave’s financial and computer skills took him to the consulting world for CT area and the U.S.; Hamilton Sundstrand, NewVenture Technologies, and Data Profit. As a Specialist for JD Edwards software, he began traveling as a Business Analyst. Cooking was a favorite past time, especially Lebanese dishes, and he was famous for his meat pies. He also loved music and played the piano, bass and keyboard.
Dave married the love of his life, Jan Reynolds on September 21, 2001. Together they would meld their cooking skills to create amazing dishes for their families and friends. Dave and Jan lived in Wilbraham, MA until 2013, and moved to Bluffton, SC to start new adventures. Traveling, (and researching travel) was Dave’s new passion, and it took them to many beautiful places. Aruba, Hawaii, St. Lucia to name a few. In 2021 Dave and Jan bought an RV and began having a great time exploring State Parks and beaches from Vermont to Florida.
Dave was soft spoken, trustworthy and easy going and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He leaves his wife Jan (Reynolds), of Bluffton, SC, his daughter Kelly Berger (Nate), son David (Jenny), sister Karen Goodbout (Bob), brothers Steve (Ann), and Tony (Debbie). He also leaves his beloved grandchildren, Johnny & Jackie Berger, and Evie Ziter. David was predeceased by his parents Theresa and David, and his brother Joe. He also leaves many nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws and many close friends.
A celebration of life and memorial service for David will be held in the near future.
