Martin Angelo Michonski

MANCHESTER, CT – Martin Angelo Michonski, born on May 24, 1961, in Westfield, Massachusetts was sent to his eternal home on April 8, 2025, with his family present. He was the beloved son of Stanley and Rita Michonski. Marty was a graduate of Westfield High School, Class of ‘79 and attended Western New England College.

Marty, as he was affectionately known, was the most loving and caring man to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by happiness, love, and compassion. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him for the joy and laughter he brought into this world and the profound impact it had on those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Marty is survived by his loving children, Kaila Scatena and daughter-in-law Britni Scatena, Anthony Michonski and daughter-in-law Catrina Michonski.  His loving grandchildren, Marli and Crew Scatena, Grayson and Averie Michonski. His sister Kathy Morgan and brother-in-law Tony Morgan. He is also survived by his niece Stephanie Rafferty and Michelle Peery, as well as his two great nephews and one great niece.

Marty had a passion for sports and played basketball, baseball, and soccer in high school.  He took such pride passing on the same joy of sports to his children. He worked as an area manager for Stop and Shop and impacted so many lives with his infectious personality. He loved to fish, go camping, and spent many summers with his children and family in Westerly Rhode Island at Jim’s beach campground.

Those who knew Marty will remember him for his smile and overwhelming laughter, as well as his love for his family. He had the gift of making others smile and left a lasting impact on all those who crossed his path.

The calling hours to honor Martin Angelo Michonski will be held on April 14, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tierney Funeral Home at 219 W Center Street, Manchester, CT. The family will have a private burial in Greenfield, MA on April 15, 2025.

Although Marty’s physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to live through his family and friends.  May his memory be a blessing and may we carry forth his legacy of love and compassion in all that we do.
