Matthew J. Nimchick

WESTFIELD – Matthew J. Nimchick, 45, of Westfield, passed away unexpectedly on September 25th, 2025.

Born in Southwick on August 4, 1980, Matt was the beloved son of the late Paul and Judith Nimchick. He graduated from Westfield Vocational Technical High School in 1999 from Construction Technology and went on to work in the roofing and machining industry for many years.

Matt had a deep love for his dogs, Elvis and Tessie, who brought him endless joy. He was passionate about music, tattoos, Chicago Bulls, Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and playing softball, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents in 2021 and leaves behind his siblings Paul, Stephanie, and Patrick; his cherished nieces and nephews Virginia, Rylie, Mars, Tyler, and Paisley; as well as many cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.

Those who knew Matt best understood how deeply he struggled after the loss of his parents, and his family would like to thank everyone who offered him support, even in his hardest times.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following organizations: ArkanPaws Animal Rescue (arkanpaws.org) which is the rescue Matt adopted his dogs from. Learn2Cope.org, which focuses on providing education, resources, and hope for family members and friends who have loved ones affected by substance use disorder.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours from 5:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 16th, 2025, at Westfield Funeral Home, 4 Princeton Street, Westfield, MA.  A procession will form from Westfield Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 17th, 2025, proceeding to Middle Farms Cemetery, 405 Russellville Road, Westfield, MA for burial.
