Hazel M. Stone

Hazel M. Stone, 93, passed away peacefully at home on March 26, 2026. She was surrounded by her family and the comfort of familiar walls and the memories she cherished throughout her life.

Born February 12, 1933, in Quincy, MA. Hazel was the daughter of Hazel (Taylor) and Joseph Hook. She was later lovingly raised by her adoptive parents Florentine (Halgren) and Bert M. Parker in Southwick, MA. She was raised with strong values rooted in hard work, spending her early years working on the family’s tobacco and turkey farm.

A 1953 graduate of Westfield High School, Hazel went on to build a life centered on family. She was predeceased by her former husband Thomas W. Stone. They too raised their family on a farm in Westfield. She is survived by her loving children Ruthanne Carter (Rick); Paul W. Stone and his wife, Jennifer; Gary T. Stone and his wife, Pamela all of Westfield, MA. Hazel was predeceased by her first-born child Cynthia J. Dubay. She also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren Rebecca Brown (Ron), Jessica Carter (Colby), Jason Dubay (Samantha), Laura Larkins (Guy) and Linda Stone (John). Hazel also had four beloved great-grandchildren who loved their Nana, Payton Carter, Rylee and Brynn Dubay and George Larkins.

Hazel had a creative soul and generous heart. For many years, she shared her love of rug braiding by teaching others in Northampton. She also spent 40 plus years as a meat wrapper at Finest, Edwards and Stop and Shop. Beyond her work Hazel found great joy on the golf course. An avid golfer and longtime member of the former Southwick Country Club. She cherished the time spent outdoors and the friendships she formed over the years.

Above all else, Hazel’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother, a proud grandmother and loving Nana whose presents and sense of humor brought comfort and strength to those around her. Hazel’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She is deeply missed and will never be forgotten.
