BLANDFORD – Robert Eugene Burt, age 87, a longtime resident of Blandford, died on Thursday, April 30th, 2026, at Baystate Noble Hospital in Westfield, after a period of declining health.
Bob was born in Westfield on July 6th, 1938, and he was the son of the late George Edward Burt and Bessie (Liswell) Burt. He grew up in Westfield and graduated from Westfield Technical Academy.
He worked for over twenty years as a sprayer, treating manufactured parts for the aerospace industry at Dyker Night Northeast in Westfield. Bob also served his community for many years as a volunteer call man for the Westfield and Blandford Fire Departments.
Bob was a lifelong railroad train enthusiast, spending countless hours in his train room. He was a very active member of the Pioneer Valley Live Steamers Club and the Adirondack Live Steamers Club. He also enjoyed fishing, woodworking, making Whirligigs lawn decorations and tending to his projects.
He is survived by his partner of twenty-four years; Karen Richardson, her son; Les Richardson. Two sisters: Edith Redford of Daytona, Florida and Betty Jane Avery of Westfield. Besides being predeceased by his parents, Bob was also predeceased by a sister, Alice Dazzel.
At his request, all services will be private. The GRAHAM HILLTOWN COMMUNITY FUNERAL HOME, 27 Russell Road in Huntington has been honorably entrusted with Bob’s care and service.
