Ruth Mildred Norman

WESTFIELD – Ruth Mildred (Judicki) Norman, age 99, passed away peacefully. Born on September 5th, 1926, she was a lifelong resident of Westfield, Massachusetts.

Ruth was a woman of remarkable strength and tenacity. She lived her life with quiet determination and resilience, touching the lives of all who knew her. She was a devoted member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Westfield and later Grace Lutheran Church in West Springfield, where her faith remained a steady and guiding presence.  Above all, Ruth was deeply devoted to her family.

Ruth is predeceased by her Mother Michalena Cilwa (1952), her Father Mathias Julius Judicki (1973), her siblings Edwin, Helen, Martha (Holl), Clifford (Chick) Gordon and Fredrick.

Ruth is also predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, Omer Ralph Norman (1919–2002), whose memory she carried with her always.

She is survived by her children: daughters Ellen, Judy, and Cindy, and her son Roy. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Birdy Evans, Phil, Craig, Jon Paul, Jeremy, Jessica, Kimberly and her beloved great-grandchildren Alexis, Micci, Monday, Xavier, Bryce, Bella, Cali, Leland, Felicity, Victoria and Mia; along with many nieces and nephews.

She also leaves her cousin and best friend Mildred Gibbs of Granby, MA.

She worked at Andersons during WW2 in the 1940s under government contract for the war effort. She also volunteered for many years during Immunization and Blood Pressure Clinics at the Health Department. She also worked for Robinson Reminders in the late 60s and Preferred Electronics in the late 70s. She was an avid knitter and would periodically donate to Baystate NICU making hats; her specialty was knitting socks. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Needlers group.

Ruth’s life was one of perseverance, faith, and enduring love. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished so deeply, and she will be forever remembered and profoundly missed.

A Memorial will be held at St. Johns Cemetery in Westfield on June 19th at 11 a.m. and a small luncheon will follow at Grace in West Springfield following the Memorial.
