WESTFIELD – Marilyn Ann McNeil passed away peacefully on September 3rd, 2026, with the compassion and love of Cape Coral Hospice Angels. She was born in Westfield, Massachusetts, to the parents George F. McNeil and Anna Yefko McNeil, where she spent her childhood living next door to her Grandmother Cecelia Yefko and Uncle Cheslaw (Jeff) Yefko. This was important when Marilyn’s father became a POW during WWII. Marilyn’s early portrait reflects a beautiful blue-eyed, golden-haired little girl. Marilyn had many childhood friends, including her life-long neighbor, Marie Morawiec.
Marilyn was educated in the Westfield Public School System: Fort Meadow – Westfield High from which she graduated in 1960 with major classes in Business. This led to her first job working at the Eastern States Credit Union. Her next employment was for almost 30 years, United Technologies Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks, Connecticut; was her proudest where she was an excellent secretary according to her supervisors.
Throughout her life, Marilyn also had many interests and community memberships: reading, antiques, flower arranging and crafts, raising her cats, her church Holy Trinity, the Holy Trinity Rosary Sodality, the Westfield Senior Center, Westfield Democratic Committee Secretary, Greater Westfield Committee for the Homeless (Secretary), and assisting the blind in cooperation with The Massachusetts Association of the Blind. She later became caretaker of her mother.
Family was the heart of the McNeil family as said at her retirement party. She enjoyed the holiday gatherings, being a Godmother to Kaitlin McNeil (Colorado) and Aunt to Dylan McNeil (New Hampshire), traveling to Idaho with (sister) Barbara McNeil and her husband Harold Miller, becoming a Florida resident at the Horizon Village in North Fort Myers, where she had many friends, enjoying the beauty of Florida with (sister) Judi McNeil Dugre and her husband Rick Dugre, living at The Windsor with special friends too many to name. Marilyn will join her family, who predeceased her – (Parents) George and Anna McNeil and (brothers) George McNeil, Jr. and Robert McNeil.
A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd from 10-11 a.m. at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. A service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Chicopee.
