8:19 a.m.: officer needed, East Main Street, a patrol officer reports that striking soft drink workers are blocking the entrance to an East Main Street fast food restaurant, a supervisory officer reports he spoke with a representative of the picketers and the restaurant manager and was assured by both that there would be no further problem;
9:32 a.m.: animal complaint, Bates Road, a caller reports dogs from a known address are running loose again, the responding animal control officer reports the dogs were returned to their property and a citation will be delivered to their owner, the ACO reports that he will also issue a citation for the chickens and ducks on the property which have not been removed as previously ordered;
10:22 a.m.: disturbance, East Main Street, a caller reports striking soft drink workers picketing in the area struck his vehicle with a sign, the responding officer reports the caller had taunted the picketers by showing a soda bottle to the picketers and one dropped a sign he was carrying, the officer reports that there is debate about whether or not the sign struck the vehicle but no signs of damage were found;
10:23 a.m.: suspicious person, Hubbard Street, a caller reports two men with binoculars appear to be looking at the children in the spray park, the responding officer reports he spoke with the two young men who said they had been looking not a the children but at the caller and her friend;
11:35 a.m.: animal complaint, West Silver Street, the animal control officer reports he took custody of a stray female gray and white greyhound dog and transported it to the Westfield Animal Shelter;
11:42 a.m.: found property, Chapman Playground, St. Paul Street, a worker at the playground reports finding a backpack and contents in the playground that he believes may have been stolen, the responding officer reports the owner of the backpack was identified and reports it was stolen from her vehicle while it was parked on St. Paul Street, the woman said that the only items missing are a bottle of medication and a pocket knife, the woman does not require a formal report;
12:50 p.m.: fire, Ridgeview Terrace, a caller reports he put paper bags in his wood stove and now his residence is filling with smoke, dual response dispatched, the responding firefighters report the resident decided to burn material in the fire box in his fireplace on the hottest day of the year but the flue was broken and the house filled with smoke, the residence was ventilated to remove the smoke;
4:15 p.m.: suspicious activity, southbound span of the Great River Bridge, North Elm Street, a patrol officer reports he observed and identified two boys who were jumping from the bridge, the boys were warned of the hazards of their activity and sent on their ways;
8:19 p.m.: accident, Western Avenue, a caller reports her neighbor was struck by a motor vehicle while mowing his lawn, the responding officer reports the victim said that he had been mowing the tree belt with his riding mower when he accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake and the lawn mower lurched into the roadway where it was struck by a vehicle, the vehicle operator said that he rounded a curve and could not avoid a collision with the lawn mower in the roadway, the resident was transported to Noble Hospital where he was treated and released;
9:39 p.m.: assist other agency, Noble Hospital, a caller from the hospital requests assistance with an unruly patient, the responding officer reports the patient was unruly and contact jolts applied with an electronic control device failed to subdue the patient, the officer attempted to emplace handcuffs but the man got a hand free and struck the officer with his hand and the attached cuff, additional officers arrived to assist and the man was placed in four point restraint, criminal complaints for assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct were filed.
